Well, Jack's xray wasn't great but he feels good, so he can start putting some weight on his left leg. The ball of the hip is starting to grow back but it looks like it'll never fit in his socket. At least the doctor wasn't talking surgery & body casts this time. Jack will just adapt to the abnormal hip & that'll be that. Things will continue the same in school for now - wheelchair for P.E. class & recess and crutches around the classroom. And we'll keep up the swimming. No xray for another 6 months because it's a slow healing process and not much will change anytime soon. Jack's in good spirits - he can now play his ball games in the living room and since he doesn't have to completely keep weight off the left leg, I'll feel more comfortable letting him go over friends houses.
Jack just started taking a swim class at the Y to get him ready for a swim team. He's learning flip turns and how to breathe while swimming. Hopefully by the spring, we'll be able to get him on a swim team. He goes next Friday for another xray of his hip. He says he feels good & can sit indian-style no problem, so we're hoping that means he's on the mend.
