Low Key Vacation Week

It was a low key week for Jack.  He had a friend over every day to play video games and he also played a lot of hide & seek.  I noticed, though, toward the end of the play date, he would start to get rambunctious, but for the most part, he kept himself toned down.  Next weekend, he's allowed to swim again, so that'll be good to give him something active to do.  Here's a recurring conversation from this past week:

Mom....Jack, stop jumping.
Jack.....I'm not jumping.
Mom....Yes, you are; I saw you.
Jack.....But it's not much jumping.

So, he still bears constant watching.  This weekend, he's been keeping the score sheet during Amanda's basketball tournament.  This is something he loves doing, AND he doesn't mind sitting at the score table for hours on end!  One of the team's little brothers, who Jack played with during the entire middle school season, is quite dismayed by Jack doing this rather than playing with him.  He said yesterday, 'Jack, I don't see how you call this fun.' 

We'd also like to wish PoP-PoP, and our little friend Robert, a very Happy Birthday!!

Overdid It

Jack is wiped out from the water park. He threw up last night and has just laid around all day today.   He says he's not in pain, just 'insanely tired.'  He even said he wished we still had his wheelchair.  I guess after 2 years of barely walking up stairs, 5 hours of it was just too much.  A not-so-gentle reminder that Perthes is still with us...we're not there yet.

Jack didn't really do anything today... amanda (me!) was sick so i didn't go to school today. Nurse Lisa came over at 12, and Jack's teacher came over at 4. There's your daily update!

Quiet Day

Not much going on today.  Jack joined his class this afternoon on the webcam and I did some very local shopping for Easter.  I also scouted out some detours so that Nurse Lisa could get home. There's still quite a bit of water around and some intersections are closed.  Our mall (about 20 minutes away, in Warwick) really got hit hard.  Here's a good video, by Bruce Valliere:

Lifted

I was alone today but used the lift to get Jack out of bed and into the living room, where he hung out in front of the fire and watched some baseball.  Yo-yo weather - 60 degrees yesterday; I met a friend for lunch in Wickford and we ate outside.  And then today, snow flurries and a roaring fire in the fireplace. 

   

Day 61

Quiet day hanging out on the deck.  Mom cleaned out Jack's backpack to get ready for the first day of school on Tuesday (!).  Jack said it was torture, watching that.

Day 56

Quiet day hanging out on the deck (nice, cool weather!) and swimming at the Y after dinner.

Day 50

Quiet day.  Mom worked in the morning and we went swimming at the Y in the afternoon.

Day 47

Quiet day.  Mom had a nice birthday eve dinner in Narragansett, right on the water.  On the way home, we stopped at the town beach.  I contemplated the ocean beach.  Jack said no problem for him; he'd keep weight off his left leg by boogie-boarding.  Probably on the list of what NOT to do...

Day 34

Quiet day - PS2, laptop, TV, snacks, started a new Tooniverse puzzle.  Busy week ahead, though:  sleepover with Matthew and 2 other friends coming over, so stay tuned!
