Procedure

Jack's arthrogram went well.  He survived only having Jello for breakfast.  No problem with the anesthesia or waking up.  His hip has good range of motion so the doctor did not need to make an incision & release the muscle.  Now on to the hard part - laying still for 6 weeks...

Day 1

Jack's just hanging out on his hospital bed.  The traction guy hasn't come yet so he's able to move all over the bed today.

I hear you are going to be practicing retirement - laying around all day, eating good food, playing video games, watching TV, etc., etc.  I wish I could retire like that!  MoM -MoM and me are painting, digging, shoveling, raking, etc., etc.  So, we hope you take advantage of your temporary retirement.

Day 2

Traction has been set up.  He asked to go to the bathroom 3 times and to stretch his legs out of the boots twice during the first 90 minutes.

Night 1 in Traction

After an hour of adjustments and 45 minutes of squirming, Jack finally fell asleep around 10 pm.  He slept until 2:45 am where he banged on the wall for another adjustment and then again at 3:30 to go to the bathroom.  Just like having a new baby - I'm even using the same rocking chair that was used to rock the kids to sleep when they were little, and the same mantra was running through my head:  'please go to sleep, please go to sleep, please go to sleep'

Day 3

Chillin' with some music.  Mom & Dad were able to sneak out to a movie this afternoon (Star Trek, finally); thanks Mom-mom & Pop-pop!

Night 2 in Traction

Not too bad - only 45 minutes of squirming & complaining before falling asleep, and only 1 bang on the wall in the middle of the night.
